The Vaulted House is a warm, earthy residence set within a gated community in the Chikkaballapura region. It is designed around a central waterbody that connects the home’s spaces bringing in light, reflection, and a sense of calm.
The entrance leads into a vaulted living room that opens toward the central pond. Behind it sits the kitchen with white oak cabinets, and next to it, a double-height dining area that opens out to the waterbody through wide French bifold windows, allowing the space to expand or enclose as needed. Together, these spaces form the heart of the home.
A cantilevered staircase made of Sadarahalli stone, teak, and brass floats beside the dining area, letting light filter through the home. The guest bedroom, overlooking the lawn, connects to a walk-in closet and a bathroom finished in Araish lime plaster and subway tiles.
The ground floor features handmade clay brick flooring set in lime mortar, offering high thermal mass and a rich, textured feel. Throughout, natural and handcrafted materials are celebrated seen from thumbprints on bricks to trowel marks in polished clay plaster.
Photovoltaic panels on the roof provide electricity, while rooflights and integrated planters bring light and greenery deep into the home. Rainwater from the roof is collected into the pond, making it both a visual and ecological feature.
Upstairs, two bedrooms sit under vaulted ceilings, with mirror cast insitu greige terrazo floor and teak wood french doors . The entire house reflects a quiet, handcrafted quality where natural materials, light, and thoughtful details shape a serene living experience.
